Hunter S Thompson is dead.

The Rude Pundit has a very good post about it all.

And the Liberal Avenger reminds us of the power and clarity of Thompson's words with his post "Hunter S. Thompson on Nixon's Death"

Also a great interview with HST done by Jay MacDonald of

Bankrate: Yet you say Nixon pales in comparison to George W. Bush.

Hunter S. Thompson: Oh, yeah, he looks almost like a liberal. You look at the Clean Air Act and several others back then. Nixon was a crook but at least he operated off of an individual base. But this yoyo, this stupid little … It's cheap opera. Take a look at your pocket. Take a look around you. It's a hold-up, a looting of the national treasury, and that's what they're doing. The combined spending of the Kerry campaign is far less than $5 million for advertising. Five million dollars, that's like a goddamned Susan Anthony dollar compared to $60 billion that is just routine going out to Halliburton. We might lose if we went to war with Halliburton.

And the classic Salon interview with Thompson before the 2004 election.
It's a disaster of unthinkable proportions -- part of the downward spiral of dumbness. Civil liberties are black and white issues. I don't think people think far enough to see the ramifications. The PATRIOT Act was a dagger in the heart, really, of even the concept of a democratic government that is free, equal and just. There are a lot more concentration camps right now than Guantanamo Bay. But they're not marked. Now, every jail, every bush-league cop can run a concentration camp. It amounts to a military and police takeover, I think.

And here's a google search for all HST's interviews.

We shall miss you Mr. Thompson.

Monkey's Paw

No it's not what you think.

How about a robotic arm that a monkey controls.

No I'm not talking about that Auto-pen Rummy uses...

I'm talking about a real robotic arm that is attached to a real monkey that is controled by that real monkeys brain.

No kidding...

Monkey's Brain Runs Robotic Arm

WASHINGTON D.C. - Robotic arms used by amputees are typically controlled by moving some other part of the body, like the opposite arm. Researchers would like to make such prostheses respond to the whim of the brain.

Now it turns out researchers have found a method so easy (well, relatively so) that a monkey can do it.

In a new study, a monkey fed itself using a robotic arm electronically linked to its brain. The work was presented here Thursday at the annual meeting of the American Association of the Advancement of Science (AAAS).

You just gotta love science... just try and find me a religion that can do this...

Going to Hell?

So you are a sinner and your gonna end up in HELL.
So where do you fit in ? Where will you find yourself when you go to HELL...

Take the Dante's inferno test to find out....

thanx to balgar for the link

BTW...I'll be in the 2nd or 6th level of HELL...
Drop me a note and let me know if we'll be seeing each other...

What the hell does he mean?

He says it all the time... and he said it again...

From the Washington post White House Briefing section

Asked whether he would oppose Social Security taxes on income over the current limit of $90,000, Bush left the matter open.

" 'I'm interested in good ideas. People need to come forth with good ideas. The one thing I won't do is negotiate with myself,' Bush said."

What the hell does "The one thing I won't do is negotiate with myself" really mean?

Is he saying that he's so entrenched in his own position that he refuses to look at the merits of the counter position himself?

Or did someone feed him this line and he just keeps repeating thinking it sounds "smart" and "strong"?

If it's the former then that's the stupidest thing I've ever heard.
If the latter, geez what a boob.

Philosophy 101 - always present the counter argument in the best light possible so one can see if the initial argument or position can stand up to the other side.

Timothy Noah of Slate took a stab at it a while back...
When Bush says someone is trying to get him to "negotiate with myself in public," which he says a lot, it has always been my understanding that he means he doesn't have to consider an argument with which he doesn't agree. Now, though, I suspect that, at least in this case, he means something more. He's saying that he doesn't have to consider reality. It isn't his job to do "this hard thing." ...

That's a little bit of help but really...
what the hell does he mean....?

It's HOT in here

Global Warming - Climate change. Is it real or just a ruse by the anti-american enviromentalists?
New Scientist takes an in depth look at the question.

This is perhaps the most crucial scientific question of the 21st century. The winning side in the climate debate will shape economic, political and technological developments for years, even centuries, to come. With so much at stake, it is crucial that the right side wins. But which side is right? What is the evidence that human activity is warming the world, and how reliable is it?

These questions are tackled with a dense presentation , so have a cup of coffee and prepare to use your brain...

Ok... the brain hurts a bit eh?
I understand...
After a lengthy and very complete presentation of evidence here's the conclusion reached...
Where does this leave us? Actually, with a surprising degree of consensus about the basic science of global warming - at least among scientists. As science historian Naomi Oreskes of the University of California, San Diego, wrote in Science late last year (vol 306, p 1686): "Politicians, economists, journalists and others may have the impression of confusion, disagreement or discord among climate scientists, but that impression is incorrect."

Her review of all 928 peer-reviewed papers on climate change published between 1993 and 2003 showed the consensus to be real and near universal. Even sceptical scientists now accept that we can expect some warming. They differ from the rest only in that they believe most climate models overestimate the positive feedback and underestimate the negative, and they predict that warming will be at the bottom end of the IPCC's scale

For the true hard-liners, of course, the scientific consensus must, by definition, be wrong. As far as they are concerned the thousands of scientists behind the IPCC models have either been seduced by their own doom-laden narrative or are engaged in a gigantic conspiracy. They say we are faced with what the philosopher of science Thomas Kuhn called a "paradigm problem".

"Most scientists spend their lives working to shore up the reigning world view - the dominant paradigm - and those who disagree are always much fewer in number," says climatologist Patrick Michaels of the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, a leading proponent of this view. The drive to conformity is accentuated by peer review, which ensures that only papers in support of the paradigm appear in the literature, Michaels says, and by public funding that gives money to research into the prevailing "paradigm of doom". Rebels who challenge prevailing orthodoxies are often proved right, he adds.

But even if you accept this sceptical view of how science is done, it doesn't mean the orthodoxy is always wrong. We know for sure that human activity is influencing the global environment, even if we don't know by how much. We might still get away with it: the sceptics could be right, and the majority of the world's climate scientists wrong. It would be a lucky break. But how lucky do you feel?

I'd say it's clear , It's HOT in here.

Looking up their sleeve

The Talent Show puts BushCo's plan for social economic ruin into the proper perspective today...

Keep in mind that one of the goals of the Bush administration has been to, in the words of Grover Nordquist, "starve the beast". As free market zealots, the more they can get the government to tighten its belt (and send that work to their buddies in the private sector), the closer they get to their utopian vision of capitalism completely free of government influence. If you think back to when Bush was elected though, there's one little problem : the budget was balanced and we had a surplus. Needless to say, it's hard to convince the public that we need to close the homeless shelters and let the environment fend for itself when we've got extra money.

Simple, just trash the economy ...

Just like it's hard to convince a healthy person to go on a diet, the Bushies were fully aware that simple math and common sense would make Americans averse to shrinking social services. So what do they do? They put the government on a four year spending binge. Tax cuts for the rich, handouts to religious groups, giveaways to the pharmaceutical industry, etc... Is it any wonder why Bush never vetoed any bills? The more they waste money, the quicker they can move onto their real goal.

Furthmore they have even set things in motion to trash the economy and social structure of the future.

So...How long till BushCo begins to sell off parts of the Divided States as well?

Up for sale to the highest MegaWorldwideCorporateCompany bid ... The great Soon to be Former State of Massachusetts...

Crapola that doesn't exist

1. Terrorist Threat
-------- - Right here right now there is no immediate terrorist threat ( unless you are in Iraq, Israel, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan and a various other countries around this little blue ball we shit in) - there are acts of terrorism and there are terrorists (remember who said this?)- but look around ya, go outside, there is no terrorist threat. Notice that we haven't had a "terror" alert since Bushy got Elected....hmmm...Does it make ya think just a little bit? Maybe they have hyped up the threat a bit, just a iddie bit.

2. Liberal Elites
-------- Lets be real people - the elites in America are the Rich White Repugnics...They have Grey hair and wear suits... many are buddies with Bushy... some even belong to BushCo...

3. Liberal Media
-------- Who? Air America? Keith Olbermann? John Stewart?
What? - you mean CBS and ABC and NBC and all the cable news except FAux and all the Newspapers except a few like the Washington Times and that kind of thing? Don't ya think that's just a bit paranoid? "eek they are ..are all out to gets us with ,,eek Facts"

4. Gay Agenda
-------- So how does Gay Marriage actually affect me and my wife? Oh right, we have to go to more weddings and buy more wedding gifts - plus we'd have to buy new clothes cause these weddings would be spiffy... But that's not a down side...think of all the jobs we are helping - from the cashier at the Target (who surely doesn't make enough to pay the bills) where we buy the toaster - to the CEO of Sears who made great profit on that Blender we needed to get ( they registered for it.)

5. Social Security Crisis
-------- ah hmm... You are gonna do what? You got to be kidding me... Gamble my future in the market? ROTFLMAO ... It's called "Social Security " for Roosevelt's sake... ( I would have used Christ but those religious folk might have got offended and well truth be told Christ had been dead for years when Social Security was started...)

6. Assault on American Values
-------- Sure I agree we have one but it's the Conswervative Religoiusly wRight that are assaulting American values. Just today I beleive that I heard some Conswervative Talk Show shill ( I believe her name was tami brown or some such thing) say that she wanted the good ole USA to have "Soldiers that enjoyed killing the enemy". She was defending that General that likes his job a bit too much... I realize we want tough soldiers but...geez guys, killing should never be "fun" it may be necessary , but it shouldn't be fun.

How did I miss this....

I missed this on the news... I immediatly knew it was a Joe.. a GI JOE...
So-called U.S. hostage appears to be toy

A photograph posted on an Islamist Web site appears to be that of an action figure and not a U.S. soldier being held hostage.

Liam Cusack, the marketing coordinator for Dragon Models USA, said the figure pictured on the Web site is believed to be "Special Ops Cody," a military action figure the company manufactured in late 2003.

The torture gamer

Today's event - Senatorial Rubber Stamping of the Top Law Dog of USA....

Alberto "the Torture Gamer" Gonzales Vs the Balls of Truth, Justice and the American Way.

Their cases...

"Mr. Gonzales was at the heart of the Bush administration's notorious decision to authorize our forces to commit flagrant acts of torture in the interrogation of detainees," said Sen. Edward Kennedy, D-Mass.

Mr. Gonzales was the legal architect of this Administration’s policies on torture and the treatment of detainees– policies that resulted in the despicable torture of prisoners in Iraq, Afghanistan and Guantanamo. The vast majority of these prisoners were never charged with any crime, and even our own State Department had grave misgivings about redefining our torture policy. - Barbara Boxer

There was much much more...

The Repugnis Claimed "Racism"...

re-composing yourself after ROTFLYAO at this ridiculous bit of subterfuge ... respond only with "POT KETTLE BLACK"

The Liberal Avenger even asks the question "Why Gonzales?"

It's all for naught,,,The repugnis have the numbers and no balls at all and we take it in the ass in the end...

60 to 36 was the score... 23 pairs of balls have they grown,,, 36 pairs in all,,,but alas still we have 9 DemoRats with still No balls at all...
