Tilt My Poll

From the newest Zogby survey we get a very un-Zogby-like question. Almost as if the poll was hijacked by FAux News or Frank Luntz the mastero of the right leaning poll himself ...

Do you believe government should determine who can marry whom, or do you believe that should be left up to churches?

Government
Churches
Other
Not sure

You have got to be kidding me.

Somebody has to have kidnapped Zogby.

Ok, chill out he's probably safe somewhere... right?

So...how do I answer this one...?

Definitly not the government doing the determining and certainly not the churches. Religion screws up all kinds of stuff

- it's "religion" for gods sake...

Choosing "not sure " isn't an option as that assumes a choice between the former and the later so...

I said "other" as I think that it should be the two people involved in the marrying...

Don't ya think?

Iraq to Vo...BOOM...te

The Iraq elections are this weekend...as if you didn't know...

The media is covering it to the hilt...but in a strange Orwellian fashion where the violence is seen as normal and acceptable...or not even reported...

Shuster from MSNBC is there on his first trip to Baghdad... He's got an interesting blog that gives you a tiny picture of what is going on from the perspective of a newly arrived pretty straight up journalist.

but for a real taste of what's really going in Iraq you have to see News From Inside Iraq by Dahr Jamail.

Weary of the overall failure of the US media to accurately report on the realities of the war in Iraq for the Iraqi people and US soldiers, Dahr Jamail went to Iraq to report on the war himself.

His dispatches were quickly recognized as an important media resource and he is now writing for the Inter Press Service, The NewStandard and many other outlets.
...
Dahr has spent a total of 8 months in occupied Iraq as one of only a few independent US journalists in the country.
From Dahr Jamail's Blog Today...

Despite a continuing increase in the already draconian security measures imposed across Iraq, the bombs keep coming.

Today in the al-Dora district of Baghdad a primary school which had been a designated polling station was struck by a car bomb. Four Iraqi Police (IP) were killed.

A GMC packed with explosives rammed a checkpoint at the al-Dora power plant, killing several people, and as far south as Basra a policeman died when his vehicle was struck by a roadside bomb.

...

I'm on a mission to photograph the barricades that are springing up across the capital city, and one of Abu Talat’s sons, Ahmed, is along with us doing some filming as well. Just after filming more of the abundance of concrete blocks and razor wire we are pulled over by an unmarked car of three IP’s.

They take Abu Talat and Ahmed’s ID’s, the registration papers for the car and tell us to follow them.

I’d been detained by mujahideen in Fallujah last May while conducting interviews inside the city, and Abu Talat and I were piled into a GMC with armed Iraqi National Guard (in Fallujah they were all muj), and taken in for questioning.

So this didn’t feel like a kidnapping, since we had our car sans personal armed escorts. Nevertheless, it’s safe to say I was a bit concerned.

“Should I escape? I could try to get a taxi,” I say to Abu Talat. “No. We’re fine. They will just verify we are press. Besides, you are American. You are the only thing keeping them from throwing me in jail.”

From the back seat Ahmed says, “Me too!”

They pull over at a marked police vehicle and everything is sorted out. “I apologize, we just have to make sure you are press,” says one of the policemen.

Before leaving them Abu Talat felt like having some fun and asked the policeman, “Why didn’t you take the American’s papers?”

“The Americans will fuck my mother if I do,” he replied. They both burst into laughter.

bit of black humor in a very tense place...

His other posts are not only informative but some are truely shocking...
Just Go read Iraq Dispatches....

Senate Balls...

Today the oh so great Senate of the grand old US of A debated and voted on the confirmation of Condiliar Rice as the new Executive Assistant of State...("Secretary" is sooo derogatory)

So... how are they coming down on this? Who has Balls and who really is just a big pussy...

You gotta expect that the Repugnics will all back her... they have sold their souls to the company store... what else could they do...

Oh but the DemoRats that state they'll confirm her certainly want to be castrated in the cloak room before hand...

And the Vote....

only 13 Senators with Balls - they stood up and voted --- NO ---

But it's clear 85 have no balls at all ...53 of them repugnics but we already knew their political testes had shriveled up and fallen off long before this vote... but to find 32 spineless DemoCraps had lost their family jewels was like a punch in the nuts...we are truely screwed...

Oh and it appears that 2 Senators didn't even bother to vote...
85 + 13 = 98

Last time I checked we had 100 Senators....

Who didn't Vote?

Surprisingly it was two Repugnics
Burns (R-MT) and Gregg (R-NH) both listed as Not Voting.
Why?

So now what to Do?

Ok, the corronation is over

Bushy used the word "freedom" 27 times in his speech.

As such, Our idiot in chief has re-defined freedom as "restricted liberty at the point of a gun".

He says we are gonna spread "freedom" around the world... like butter on bread or icing on a cake or shit on a shingle. The last one is more like it and the world is worried, and I don't blame them...

But what about this word "Freedom"?

Freedom :
1. [n] the condition of being free; the power to act or speak or think without externally imposed restraints

2. [n] immunity from an obligation or duty

The 2nd one fits BushCo like a glove... eh?

Furthermore....
In his address Bushy said:
"The survival of liberty in our land increasingly depends on the success of liberty in other lands."
The "Survival" of liberty depends on liberty in other lands?

Does this mean that restrictions on our liberty can be forseen unless other lands are freed?

"Survival" is a pretty strong term...
Sounds like Orwell's "Freedom is Slavery"...

Remember, we already have a truely perpetual war against terror... War is Peace...

Rounding Down

I've had no time to post this week, however several things caught my eye and without further a-do here they are...

Did you know that there is no Social Security Crisis?
Really it's true - apparently BushCo has changed the way we do our shortfall projections. We used to look ahead 75 years with projections for Social Security, but that wasn't good enough for BushCo - since doing it the old way didn't create a crisis... so in their infinte bastardism they changed how far we look ahead --- guesses? 90 years? 50 years? Nope - they are projecting out to "Infinity" ...
Really it's true,,, see this....
And the destruction of Social Security is something the Repug's have wanted for some 60 years...

Next we have BushCo paying 1/4 million of OUR TAX money to a rightwing talk show shill to pump up the underfunded and poorly named No Child Left Behind program... And this isn't the first time BushCo used OUR Money for their sophist crap...remember the fake news reports the BushCo HHS put out a while back

Oh.... 99 out of 100 Senators have no balls... And the one with the balls really has no balls at all... Boxer comes through and steps up to the plate and supports the challenge of the vote in Ohio. Kerry doesn't even bother to be in the country... argggg.,,,

And that little Tucker with an F Carlson gets the boot...and all of Crossfire is not far behind ----
John Stewart 4 Crossfire 0

Iraq is still going to Hell in an Exploding Handbasket... We might even be outnumberd by the insurgents...

And lastly at home in the good ol USA ... I just went outside, looked around and I can't find any terrorist threats - go ahead you can check for yourself...
I'm lowering my own personal terror level to Green...

2005 - another trip around the sun..

a new year eh,

Really? Seems like just another day, doesn't it?

Yeah --- wooo --- hurrah --- folks yell at midnight around the world... then get drunk and pass out...

Seems kind of silly really...3 days later it seems like just another day in another week.

Just another trip around the Sun....

...that forces you to get a new calendar...

... but what kind ?

Nothing really new for this next day in the long line of days... except we have the standard hundreds of new laws...
