A Day After...

Well that was interesting, 400+ visitors here to view last nights Monkey Blogging fest. Thanx to all of ya who dropped by (though you won't see this "thanx" unless ya came back today).

Anyhow, now on to the News...

Reaction to the Debate is everywhere. So I'll just pick four things to point ya to.

Atrios hits the nail on the head

"Kerry looked way more presidential and won where it mattered. Bush telling people that they're unemployed because they're stupid and then talking about NCLB as if it's going to help unemployed 45 year olds wasn't good."

And, yes, if the "liberal media" isn't playing this clip over and over tomorrow, then they're 100% in the tank.

They Are. And it's sweet...but...

Does Bush really believe that people aren't gonna call him on his lies - is he that arrogant ? - does he just live in a bubble? or as Mark Kleiman asks what if George W Bush isn't a liar?

" Is there an alternative?
Yes, there is, but it's one I've been reluctant to comment on. I strongly disapprove of using clinical terms to make political criticisms, and in particular of people (such as Krauthammer) who try to use their expertise in one or another branch of disease to bully their political opponents.

However, given a subject with a long history of serious alcohol (and reportedly stimulant) abuse, organic brain damage is always a possibility. Even if the abuse itself has stopped, damage that was previously latent due to the redundancy of brain cells can become clinically evident due to the neuronal loss that is part of the normal aging process (starting about age 30). "

Last week Brad DeLong quoted James Fallows on the decline of Bush's speaking ability over the past ten years. Video here

Eek,,,brain cells POP POP POP.

And Blogitics looks at Bush looking the other way on Border Security

"Bush tonight, on the security of U.S. borders:
We're increasing the border security of the United States. We've got 1,000 more Border Patrol agents on the Southern border. We're using new equipment, we're using unmanned vehicles to spot people coming across. And we'll continue to do so over the next four years. It's a subject I'm very familiar with. After all, I was a border governor for a while.
From Time Magazine, only about a month ago:
The U.S.'s borders, rather than becoming more secure since 9/11, have grown even more porous"

An increase from pathetic is ok I guess, but what's taking so long - lack of brain cells oh yeah...

And we'll point you to the Talent Show for some good points regarding The WingNuts pointless screaming fits about Kerry saying

Typical... as they got nothing else but a busted Monkey.
